But to say I merely 'Like'—I never will.
Synopsis
Wongmuang, a writer who loves collecting antiques, accidentally discovers a mysterious Samut Khoi (traditional folding book) containing a lost version of the epic poem "Khun Chang Khun Phaen."
One night, while reading by candlelight, a magical spell is triggered, releasing characters from the book into the real world. Suddenly, Wongmuang finds his house occupied by Soi Sumalee (a lesser-known princess from the poem), Phet Kla (a fierce warrior with magic powers), and eventually the legendary character, the charming but unfaithful Khun Phaen.
Chaos ensues as these ancient characters try to adapt to modern life. A warrior who is used to fighting with swords must now deal with traffic jams and policemen; a princess used to palace life discovers shopping malls.
But it’s not just a comedy. As the candle burns down, the line between fiction and reality blurs. The characters must decide whether to return to their tragic destinies written in the book or fight for a new ending in the real world.
⚠️ Difficulty Level: Advanced / Challenging
I have to warn you: This is not an easy read.
Because the characters literally walk out of a classical epic poem, you will encounter archaic words, royal vocabulary (Rachasap), and long, elaborate descriptions of beauty and nature that you won't find in standard textbooks.
If you are a beginner, this might be too overwhelming. But if you are an advanced learner looking to bridge the gap between modern novels and classical literature, this book is the perfect "gym" for your brain. Keep a dictionary nearby!

My Personal Take: Is it a Happy Ending? (A bit spoiler)
I have to be honest, for me personally, this was a "Bad End."
Why? Because I was rooting hard for a specific character to have their happy ever after, and... well, let’s just say it didn’t go the way I hoped. My heart broke a little when I turned the final page.
However, I know many readers who consider this a "Good End" (or at least a "Right End"). They see it as the only logical conclusion for the story.
So, whether this book has a happy or sad ending really depends on what kind of closure you are looking for—and more importantly, which character you are cheering for.
Read it and decide for yourself!
